Progressive National Baptist Convention, Drum Major Institute, and Southern Christian Leadership Conference Will Partner to Hold Historic Voting Rights Forum with Ambassador Andrew Young and Martin Luther King, III

The three organizations come together to discuss where voting rights, the Civil Rights Movement, and Black Lives Matter Movement intersect

August 3, 2015. (Washington, D.C.). The Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (PNBC) is holding its 54th Annual Session in Dallas, TX on August 3-7, 2015. PNBC President, Dr. James C. Perkins, has created a vision for PNBC that includes a keen focus on voting rights, a theme that will be visible throughout the week long activities in acknowledgement of August 6, 2015, which marks the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. On August 5, PNBC will partner with the Drum Major Institute (DMI) to present a Voting Rights Forum featuring Ambassador Andrew Young, Martin Luther King, III, son of Martin and Coretta Scott King, and Dr. Charles Steele, the President and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The Forum will discuss the relevance of voting rights as well as the Civil Rights Movement in light of today’s racially charged climate, and will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Dallas Hyatt Regency Hotel, 300 Reunion Blvd. in Dallas, TX. The event is free and open to the general public.
